Manage Your PRF Grant

If you do not have access to the PRF Portal, you will need to pre-register for access. The pre-registration form requires an ACS User ID and ACS Membership Number. There is no charge is required to create an ACS ID and Membership Number. If you do not yet have an ACS ID, you will be prompted to register for free.

You may also need to request privileges to access a specific grant. To request privileges or resolve PRF Portal access issues please send an email to please contact PRFSupport@acs.org.

Instructions for Annual Grant Reports Due October 1st each year

Annual Financial, Personnel, and Progress reports are due October 1 st of each year for grants that have been active for at least 12 months under the original term of the grant agreement. Annual reporting requirements are required each year, including a no-cost extension year.

Financial & Personnel Reports

The Financial & Personnel Reports are available in the PRF Portal. The forms can be found by clicking the menu option at the top of the portal screen or by opening the application detail screen and viewing the requirements section. Guidance on accessing and submitting these reports can be found at the Help Guide link above (Sections 4-6).

Annual Progress Report

Submit the Annual Progress Report as a PDF of no more than two pages to the PRF Portal at the Grant Requirements link under “pending requirements” by October 1 st . A file upload button is available on the Requirement detail screen. Guidance on uploading the progress report can be found at the Help Guide link above (Sections 7). Note that your report will be published as submitted in the PRF Annual Report.

Include the following at the top of page 1:

  1. PRF#
  2. Project Title
  3. P.I. Name and Affiliation (and co-P.I. name and affiliation, if any).

Provide a brief summary of progress made during the reporting period, and also discuss the impact of the research on your career and on the students involved with the project.

Publications

All articles, papers, and publications reporting on PRF-supported research must acknowledge the donors of the ACS PRF Trust. We strongly suggest the use of the following language: “This work was supported by the donors of ACS Petroleum Research Fund under Grant .” Publications may add “ served as Principal Investigator on ACS PRF # that provided support for “.

(Example: “This work was supported by the donors of ACS Petroleum Research Fund under Undergraduate New Investigator Grant 1234-UNI4. A.B. served as Principal Investigator on ACS PRF 1234-UNI4 that provided support for C.D.”)

Submit citations of published articles on your grant application page in the PRF portal (use the yellow [Access the Grant Management Portal] button above) by scrolling down to “Citations” section and clicking [New] button on the Citation section header. Do not submit the citation until after the article or chapter is published. Note that the requirement to report published articles remains in effect after the grant is closed.
